Have you seen the newest additions to Gallery Delany? Back in 1986, George Delany’s company designed and produced a series of keepsakes, serigraphed– screenprinted– wall art created to help celebrate the significant date in the history of the State, the RI 350th anniversary, 1636 -1986. The collectioned garnered significant attention at the time and sold very well.
The first selection in the series to sell out was the RI Smudge poster, featuring an article written for the Wall Street Journal by Rhode Island’s own Steve Morin. George Delany tore up a section or two of the article and used the cut-outs to focus on the State of Rhode Island. Rhode Island’s then Governor did not care much for the article, and drove down to the offices of the WSJ to voice his dissatisfaction. But the article made for a fine poster. This image has never been reprinted and is not available– but it is presented here as part of the history.
The Rhode Island Beach Poster™ also sold out not one but two printings. It has not printed a third time and will not be reproduced again, more than likely. This poster uses actual beach sand from the State of RI which is adhered to the poster, itself. While this technique drove certain frame shops nuts with its special requirements for mounting, it also made for a very unusual poster. In the wake of this design, 6 other beach posters were produced all of which can be seen on this website: Cape Cod, Long Island, New Jersey, Chesapeake, Bay, California and Florida. The Beach Poster™ series continues to be one that generates interest from year-to-year.
Still available: The Rhode Island Quahog poster, the Rhode Island Red poster, and the Rhode Island Ships poster. They are all in short supply and will not be produced again, so please bear in mind– when these are gone, they are gone. First come, first serve.
Size: Each poster is approximately 24” x 36” and screenprinted on 100 lb. Mohawk Navaho Cover Stock in flat colors. The artist will upon request sign each poster in silver pencil.
Variants: Only TWO variants are available; a) the poster itself, unmatted, unframed b) the poster framed WITHOUT a matte. If you would like your order MATTED, please do so by request of the designer.
