GTECH donates lab to Joslin Community Center

GTECH Corp.’s national After School Advantage Program opened its 12th computer-lab center in Rhode Island at the Joslin Community Center, located in Providence. The new computer lab will provide resources to the 5-to-12-year-old participants of Project Key, the center’s before-and-after-school program.
Providence Mayor David N. Cicilline and Providence City Councilman Joseph DeLuca, GTECH officials and members of Joslin Community Center attended the opening ceremony for the fully operational $15,000 computer lab. GTECH donated wall-to-wall carpeting, eight Dell flat-panel computers with online access and educational software, a digital printer, desks, chairs and room decorations. Volunteers from GTECH worked with Joslin Community Center to design and assemble the lab.
Since 1999, GTECH has installed 124 computer centers in 22 states to serve at-risk children in predominantly inner-city communities who may not have the same access to computers as their peers. n
