GTECH extends Mexico lottery contract, will develop mobile product

PROVIDENCE – GTECH Corp. received a two-year extension to continue providing lottery products and support services to Mexico’s Pronosticos para la Asistencia Publica through September 2014, according to Lottomatica, GTECH’s parent company.
GTECH said it expects $43 million in revenue for the period from Pronositcos, which has been a GTECH customer since 1987.
GTECH will continue to maintain the online central system, communications network, the 9,300 online terminal base, field service, hotline management and marketing support, according to the Nov. 11 release.
The Providence-based subsidiary of Italy’s Lottomatica also will work to develop new sales channels for its Es Connect B2B solution, which allows wagers through nonlottery point-of-sale devices. It also provides access to lottery wagering applications for mobile phones, interactive television, as well as access to non-lottery services such as utility bill payments and electronic prepaid phone cards, the company said.
“Today … more than 6,000 supermarkets and convenience stores throughout Mexico are selling lottery tickets through their cash registers, allowing more convenience for players and ease of execution for retailers,” said Jaymin B. Patel, GTECH president and CEO.
