GTECH Corp. recently opened a new After School Advantage computer lab – the 10th of 30 planned for Providence – at the Jewish Community Center of Rhode Island, on Elmgrove Avenue in Providence.

As part of a partnership with the City of Providence, stemming from the company’s decision to relocate its corporate headquarters to the capital city, GTECH is donating 30 After School Advantage computer labs at locations citywide.
The JCC’s $15,000 computer lab was built and equipped by GTECH employees. It has nine state-of-the-art, flat-panel computers with the latest educational software, new desks and chairs, a scanner/printer, and a projector with a portable projection screen.
The center serves approximately 65 Providence youths each day after school. The schoolchildren will use the new GTECH After School Advantage program facility for homework assignments and research.
After School Advantage is a nationwide GTECH program that serves at-risk children who may not have the same access to computers as their peers. The lab at the JCC is the 111th GTECH has donated in the United States since its After School Advantage program began in 1999. •
