PROVIDENCE – Toy maker Hasbro has asked “some” media agencies, including its current agency, WPP’s MediaCom, to make presentations for its nearly $150 million media-planning and buying account, AdAge.com reported Wednesday.
“As our business has grown we want to take the chance to explore other agency opportunities,” said Wayne Charness, senior vice president of Hasbro’s corporate communications, to AdAge. A decision is slated to be made by late January.
MediaCom is expected to defend the business, the advertising publication said, citing “executives with knowledge of the situation.”
Nevertheless, MediaCom has lost several high-profile accounts over the past year, including Ethan Allen ($23 million), Lifetime Entertainment ($40 million) and JetBlue ($10 million) but earned two new ones: Traveler’s Insurance ($95 million) and Revlon ($100 million), AdAge.com said.
