Johnson & Wales University launches beverage center

PROVIDENCE – Johnson & Wales University on Nov. 17 launched its new Center for Beverage Education & Innovation, which university officials hope will play a role in creating more opportunities for graduates to break into the beverage industry.

The university currently offers several beverage programs, including food and beverage management and specific beverage courses regarding beer fermentation, wine studies, and beer and brewing operations.

JWU Providence Campus President Marie Bernardo-Sousa said in a statement that the center will create a venue for internal and external research and development, as well as offer management training opportunities for local beverage professionals.

Bernardo-Sousa also said she hopes the center will host conferences, competitions and other events to bring the beverage community together.

“Through this center, Johnson & Wales looks to solidify its place as a leader in the local and national beverage industry, opening doors for students and strengthening the industry,” she said.
