Justin Deveau, 39
Project executive, Shawmut Design and Construction
How has COVID-19 changed your industry? There have been varying changes across different industries but some have lingered for all, from virtual meetings to impacts on the supply chain. However, I remain optimistic of the future and am proud of the way we at Shawmut have mitigated throughout to provide our clients the same unparalleled client experience.
What is the best advice you have ever received? I’ve always enjoyed how Teddy Roosevelt summed up this idea: “In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.”
Where do you see yourself in five years? Continuing to lead Shawmut through tremendous growth and success – making lasting impacts on our partners and the communities we call home.
What advice would you give your 22-year-old self? Work hard, be kind, and good things will happen.
What moment changed your life more than any other? Holding my oldest son for the first time and becoming a dad.
What is your greatest attribute that you bring to your job? Tenacity.
What led you to pursuing a career in your current industry? Throughout high school and college, I worked completing residential remodels and additions. While studying business in college, I realized I enjoyed the combination and grasped construction management as the right balance and combination of my two passions.
