Seventy-eight years later, about 800 employees serve thousands of guests accepting Lafrance Hospitality Corp.’s invitation to bring their highest expectations to any of Lafrance’s 24 properties throughout New England and Florida.

“My dad was always the guy behind the ovens and my mom was always front and center,” company Chairman Richard Lafrance said. “I grew up in the business and expanded the restaurant division. But the hotel division is really what I started.”

Combined, Lafrance destinations – restaurants, hotels and wedding-and-event banquet halls – grossed $99.4 million last year, marking 31% growth since 2021.

For the past two years, Lafrance has been extending its enterprising success to the entrance to New Bedford’s historic downtown, rehabbing two historical buildings there.

“Now, we are developing apartments at 18 & Union,” Lafrance said. “It is our first venture into the apartment component of our business.”
