Local Rhode Islander Chosen To Be Featured On Providence Episode of Bizarre Foods:  Delicious Destinations!

Natalia Paiva-Neves featured on The Travel Channel March 1st preparing traditional Portuguese salted cod at her family’s restaurant O’Dinis.

East Providence, RI  (February 16, 2016) – The Travel Channel came calling and Natalia Paiva-Neves answered the call with a traditional Portuguese dish served daily at her family’s East Providence restaurant, O’Dinis.  In September of 2015, The Travel Channel called Natalia to arrange a feature with Natalia preparing her family’s Salted Cod dish in the Providence episode of Bizzare Foods:  Delicious Destinations.  Two weeks later, The Travel Channel was in Rhode Island to film footage of Natalia shopping for the cod, showing the processing of the salted cod at a local fish market and then at her family’s restaurant cooking and serving the same salted cod.

The Travel Channel went with Natalia to North American Salt & Fresh Fish Corporation, a local fish market in Pawtucket, to film Natalia walking the show through shopping for cod and then filmed owner Manny Rodrigues showing and explaining the process of salting cod.  Salting cod is a curing means to preserve cod that has been used for centuries and is still used today.  After visiting North American Salt & Fresh Fish Corporation to buy the salted cod, Natalia took The Travel Channel crew back to O’Dinis Restaurant to prepare a traditional salted cod dish and then serve it to customers.  The Travel Channel filmed Natalia preparing, cooking and then serving the salted cod and then interviewed her customers.

After filming here in Rhode Island, The Travel Channel put together a show about “Iconic Foods of Rhode Island” that will air on The Travel Channel March 1st.  Check your local cable channel listings for time or call O’Dinis Restaurant at 401-438-3769.

O’Dinis Restaurant is located at 579 Warren Avenue, East Providence and is open everyday but Tuesdays for lunch and dinner.
