Citizens Bank and WJAR-TV NBC 10 recently named Lucy’s Hearth a Champion in Action in the homelessness category. The Champions in Action program, launched in 2002, recognizes two nonprofit organizations each year for contributions to Rhode Island communities. Lucy’s Hearth will receive a $25,000 grant from Citizens Bank, media coverage from NBC 10, and additional volunteer and public relations support as a Champion in Action.
“NBC 10 is proud to recognize Lucy’s Hearth for its efforts to offer numerous programs that lead to financial and housing independence for its residents,” said NBC 10 Vice President and General Manager Vic Vetters. “Its unique collaboration with the homeless-provider and prevention network within Newport County have maximized the ways Lucy’s Hearth helps residents in crisis or at risk.”
Lucy’s Hearth provides homeless and social services to Newport County, including emergency shelter, transitional and permanent housing, parent and life-skills classes, GED training and certifications and more. •
