Mass. hospitals cut back on pay

BOSTON – Hospitals in Massachusetts are trimming their personnel costs, according to a study by the Boston Business Journal.
Based on filings from the end of March, the news source says, the majority of Massachusetts’ hospital groups recorded declines in pay and benefit expenses for the previous 12 months, led by a 6 percent cut for Children’s Medical Center in Boston, leaving the institution with a total of $281.4 million.
Only Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Milton, Lowell General Hospital and Winchester Hospital saw year-over-year gains in salary and benefit expense for the records studied by BBJ.
