PROVIDENCE – Monster Entertainment LLC, the designer and builder of monster-themed indoor mini-golf courses, is teaming with the rock band Kiss to build a course in Las Vegas.

The Providence-based parent of the Monster Mini-Golf franchise operation says it has obtained the license to construct a Kiss-themed mini-golf outlet in a shopping plaza across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel.

“This will take us to a whole new level,” said Monster Entertainment founder and co-owner Christina Vitagliano. “Las Vegas will be a 24/7 commercial for Monster Mini-Golf.”

The 13,000-square-foot location is scheduled to open in the fall.

Monster Entertainment declined to disclose the details of the licensing agreement with Kiss, except to say the band will have final say on the design and appearance of the course, which will look like “monsters having a great time rocking out to Kiss,” Vitagliano said.

The licensing deal includes a gift shop offering Kiss and Monster Mini-Golf merchandise.

The company, started in 2004, has 30 franchised indoor mini-golf courses across the country, each with black lights, glow-in-the-dark paint, music and three-dimensional animatronic monsters. This will be the first location in Las Vegas.

Vitagliano said her husband and co-owner Patrick is a longtime fan of Kiss, which got its start in the early 1970s and is best known for wearing facial makeup on stage, and she is an admirer of band member Gene Simmons’ marketing skills.

They’ve talked for years about building a specially themed Kiss course, and they made contract with the band’s representatives about a year ago.

Live Nation Merchandise, Kiss’ merchandise and licensing agent, brokered the deal. Vitagliano envisions more Kiss-themed mini-golf courses in the future.

Aside from Kiss images, the Vegas course will offer another feature that other Monster Mini-Golf locations haven’t: Patrons will be able to get married on the course, Vitagliano said.
