Providence, RI – The Job Search Television Network (JSTN) just began airing in Rhode Island on Cox cable Channel 71, airing 6-7 a.m. and 9-10 p.m. Monday – Friday.

The channel uses a “CNN-type” format with an anchor to provide 60-second job reports that people can TEXT ID to their cell phone or look it up on-line at www.myjstn.com for more information or apply directly from the links available on the site. The channel also features interview and video segments on companies with information about opportunities, job benefits, products and services, workplace culture and more.

The channel also just started broadcasting in the Boston market, where it is being carried on WMFP and airing on Comcast Channel 52 from 6 – 8 a.m. In the Boston area, the channel is on Verizon FiOS, RCN, DirecTV Ch. 62) and Dish Network (8786) reaching 2.4 millions homes with over 6 million viewers.

JSTN is expected to cover all of New England by the end of the spring and is moving towards becoming a national network. The network began airing in Chicago in 2008.

Residents will be able to participate in new “virtual job fairs”, the first one coming up on May 6th, and meet with recruiters “face to face” over their computers. And for the first time, people will have access to creating a 20-second JSTN “video resume” for employers along with their traditional resume.
