BOSTON – The Mass. Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development’s Division of Occupational Safety recently launched a new, Web-based application for obtaining prevailing-wage rate schedules for public construction projects.
Under Massachusetts law, contractors on public construction projects must pay their workers the rates determined by the division based upon applicable collective bargaining agreements. Until the launch of the site, rates had to be obtained directly by the agency or municipality that was using the contractor.
Contractors considering bidding on a project can log on to see what wages will be required. The site will also be a resource for workers who aren’t sure whether they are being paid properly. The information can be accessed from the online services section of the division’s Web site at www.mass.gov/dos. •
