EAST GREENWICH – Newport Restaurant Group announced Tuesday the opening of a new restaurant concept to be located in the recently shuttered Outback Steakhouse location on Division Road.
CEO Paul O’Reilly said the concept creation is being finalized with chefs testing recipes this month at the company’s test kitchen. O’Reilly said, “We will be investing in a significant renovation of the building and surrounding landscape to transform the space – which will include a covered outdoor dining patio.”
The restaurant space is part of East Greenwich Square, located at 1000 Division Road.
The management team hopes to have the new place open late this summer or early this fall. In terms of staffing, the restaurant will be led by a team from existing company management ranks who will be promoted.
There is good news on the labor front for former employees of recently closed area restaurants, as O’Reilly emphasized that as his company grows, the need for people increases. As he put it, “We are employee owned and if you want to work hard and have a career in the restaurant industry we are a great choice.”
While not revealing specifics of the new concept, O’Reilly compared it to the recent openings of Newport Restaurant Group’s Bar Cino, which started in Newport last year. A new location of the contemporary bistro and bar opened this month in Boston.
