PROVIDENCE – CVS Health Corp. has apologized and fired two employees at a Chicago CVS Pharmacy retail location after a woman posted a video of a CVS employee calling the police on a black woman after she tried to use a coupon he believed was fraudulent, according to the New York Times Monday.

The incident involved a second manager of the store, who was the other employee fired.

The Chicago Police said that they responded to the incident Friday, following a call reporting an “assault in progress.”

In a statement on Twitter, the company said that it does not “tolerate any practices that discriminate against any customer” and is “committed to maintaining a welcoming and diverse environment” in its stores.

“We have firm nondiscrimination policies in place to ensure that all customers are treated with respect and dignity,” the company added. “Profiling or any other type of discriminatory behavior is strictly prohibited.”
