BRISTOL – Parker Hannifin Corp., a global motion-controls company with Rhode Island locations, has been named an Official Control Systems Partner of New York Yacht Club American Magic, a challenger for the America’s Cup.
American Magic, which announced last year it was opening a boat-construction facility in Bristol, made the announcement in a news release. Parker will integrate controls, hydraulics and actuators into a system to help the two state-of-the-art boats stabilize as they move onto their foils – lifting surfaces – and accelerate, the release said.

The America’s Cup competition, the oldest event in international sports, will be held in March 2021 in Auckland, New Zealand.
