PROVIDENCE – As a result of a partnership between Integra Community Care Network and a Newport-based organization, some parents-to-be who are also patients at Women & Infants Hospital will be able to participate in a customized support program.
Integra, a network made up of Care New England Health System, Rhode Island Primary Care Physicians Corp. and South County Health, is working with Flourish Fund on the pilot program.

Learn MoreFunded by Integra’s Medicaid Accountable Entity program, the program offers access to community-based doulas, a range of online education in both English and Spanish, and a “wellness essentials” package for mother and baby for patients who are members of Integra’s Medicaid AE program.
Flourish Fund, which is part of Flourish Collective Inc., is working with Integra to match eligible patients with local birth and postpartum doulas with whom they share a common linguistic and cultural background.
“Partnerships like this provide families access to a unique combination of education, tools and the right support system from pregnancy through postpartum,” said Melissa Bowley, CEO and founder of Flourish Fund.
Program organizers hope the effort results in fewer cesarean sections and premature births, higher breastfeeding rates and better well-being for families and babies.
“We’re excited to partner on this initiative and to provide a new level of maternity care in the community,” said John Minichiello, president of Integra Community Care Network.
