PBN summit to tackle cybersecurity

PROVIDENCE – The latest trends, threats and solutions in cybersecurity will be discussed on Friday, Oct. 11, at this year’s PBN Cybersecurity Summit.

The event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Providence-Warwick from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

The summit will feature experts addressing cybersecurity as it pertains to the business community. Topics will include: steps to protect a business from cyber intrusions; how to navigate new privacy rules and regulations; cyber-incident response and recovery best practices; industry training and the importance of cyber-incident insurance, among other topics.

This year, the summit will be moderated by Doug White, chair, cybersecurity and networking at Roger Williams University and a podcast personality for Security Weekly.

Panelists will include Jason Albequerque, chief information officer for Carousel Industries; Cindy Lepore, assistance vice president, business insurance at Marsh & McLennan Agency; Francesca Spidalieri, senior fellow for Cyber Leadership Pell Center at Salve Regina University; Colin Coleman, partner at Partridge, Snow & Hahn, Eric Schorr; president of SecureFuture Tech Solutions and Jeffery Ziplow, cybersecurity risk assessment partner for BlumShapiro.

The event will also include closing remarks by Rep. James R. Langevin, D-R.I.

Last year, the PBN Cybersecuirty Summit featured two panels, “Designing Cybersecurity’s Strategy: Moving from Detect and Defend to Predict and Prevent” and “Cybersecurity Best Practices for Today & Beyond.”
