Pierson Booher

2021 40 Under Forty Awards
Pierson Booher | 37 | Principal, DBVW Architects Inc.

What was your first job? Refereeing youth soccer games. I was recently reminded of how chaotic it was when my oldest son began playing soccer last fall.

What moment changed your life more than any other? I was waitlisted at the college I had always hoped to attend and ultimately decided to attend Virginia Tech to study architecture. Once I made it to Blacksburg, I took advantage of everything a large land-grant university offered, fell in love with design and, years later, met my wife while working at the on-campus bookstore.

What is your favorite Rhode Island food or drink? Whalers Brewing Co.’s Rise APA.

Fox or MSNBC? NPR and The Public’s Radio.

What are you looking forward to doing again the most post-pandemic? Traveling, sporting events and live music.

What does winning this award mean to you? It’s a testament to the impact that DBVW Architects has made throughout southern New England. I’m lucky to have played a part in some amazing projects and I hope that we can continue contributing to the built environment in positive ways, both by preserving what we have and carefully designing for the future.

What is your favorite song? “Hysteria” by Muse.

THE PROP: Pierson Booher holds a “shingle” given to him by his father. The sign is modeled after one over the desk of Pierson’s father, a licensed engineer.
