The most powerful tool the Woonsocket-based pharmaceutical health conglomerate has to protect and extend life is preventive care, according to Carmilla Tan, the company’s vice president and head of benefits.
CVS is addressing issues such as convenience, access and cost. One mantra is “Small checkup. BIG IMPACT.” The no-cost MinuteClinic offers employees annual flu shots, weight management and tobacco cessation services, among other services.
“We encourage colleagues to think about their personal motivations to stay healthy – whether to care for loved ones, keep up with kids or pets, enjoy future adventures, or simply to live a long, fulfilling life,” Tan said.
CVS has mental and emotional health initiatives too, such as no-cost confidential counseling. Because financial issues impact physical and mental health, CVS offers financial wellness resources such as free financial coaching. Also, one of CVS’ employees will obtain a bachelor’s degree and advance in life thanks to the company’s tuition assistance program.
A Healthy Thought:
‘We focus on helping our colleagues be the healthiest they can be to help enhance the health and wellness of those we serve.’
CARMILLA TAN, CVS Health Corp. vice president and head of benefits
