PROVIDENCE – Project Undercover, a nonprofit based in Warwick that provides diapers, socks and underwear, among other personal garments, to children in need, was the recipient of a $2,739 donation from three local Whole Foods Market stores across the state.

Project Undercover estimates the gift, which was presented to Project Undercover board president Richard Fleischer by Sannie Rocheteau, Whole Foods’ marketing field associate for the North Atlantic region, will fund the purchase of 25,000 diapers.

Throughout April, donations were collected at the University Heights and Waterman Street Whole Foods locations in Providence as well as the Garden City Center branch, which totaled $1,939.89. Whole Foods had pledged to match donations up to $800, bringing the total donated amount to $2,739.

Thanking Whole Foods, in a statement Fleischer said: “Community partners [such as] Whole Foods Market play a vital role in our mission to ensure that every Rhode Island kid stays clean, warm and dry all year long.”
