Providence College tests key-chain alert system

PROVIDENCE – Providence College is piloting a campus security system that will send alerts and updates to specialized key chains that could eventually be carried by students, faculty and staff members.
PC’s Office of Safety and Security will team with Lewisville, Texas-based IntelliGuard System LLC to test the company’s Raven Alert Keychain on April 13 and 14. IntelliGuard Systems is a subsidiary of American Messaging LLC, the second-largest paging company in the United States.
When an alarm is triggered, the keychain provides emergency notification within 20 seconds, and then updates the situation through text messages until the final “all clear” message. The notification includes an audible alarm.
Koren V. Kanadanian, PC’s director of emergency management, said the trial will determine whether the paging system is appropriate for the PC campus. &#8226
