Providence Promise distributed $33K in scholarship funds to families in 2020

PROVIDENCE – Local education nonprofit Providence Promise distributed more than $33,000 in funds to families through its Early Scholarship/Incentive program in 2020.

Additionally, the 529 participating families currently hold more than $450,000 combined in their college savings accounts. Providence Promise said the program offers parents and children multiple opportunities to earn funds for their college savings accounts, ranging from membership in the parent or youth council to participating in extracurricular activities.

Providence Promise Executive Director Madalyn Ciampi said in a statement that the organization’s family engagement program grew from 11 students in March 2020 to close to 100 by December, which accounted for the record amount of early scholarships distributed.
