PROVIDENCE – The capital city has a place at the table in this year’s Bon Appetit Best New Restaurants. The list of 50 finalists announced yesterday includes the new Bucktown on West Fountain Street. A casual bar-restaurant, Bucktown’s menu is described as “craveable Southern” such as fried shrimp po’boys, fried chicken and local seafood, collard greens and hushpuppies.
Chef Ashley Faulkner says she and co-owner Adam Mir were notified yesterday that Bucktown was one of eight finalists from the Northeast and the only one from Rhode Island. Three of the restaurants are located in Brooklyn, NY. Bucktown was selected as were the other finalists by Bon Appetit restaurant editor Andrew Knowlton and reviewer Julia Kramer. Ten winners will be announced August 15.
