PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island – Strange little black and white codes have begun to appear on products and advertisements. This unique bar code, known as a QR code abbreviated from “Quick Response code,” enables customers – and potential customers – to instantly learn more about a business by providing media-rich data on any supported phone or handheld device.

Minuteman Press Providence-Warwick provides this popular innovation customizing programs and delivering customer education to maximize results.

“We recently met with a customer who wanted to increase ticket sales to upcoming events,” said Valerie Chanoux, co-owner of Minuteman Press Providence-Warwick. “We generated a QR code that, when scanned, went directly to the online ticket sales page for the events.”

Minuteman Press Providence-Warwick is currently developing a moving announcement for a customer changing locations. The QR code will generate a Google map and directions to the new locale.

QR codes can be generated on any printed material – business cards, posters, promotional items, brochures, displays, and signage. Minuteman Press Providence-Warwick ensures that QR codes are printed at the appropriate size, at least one inch square, for each printed project.

“Hardlinking through use of a QR Code found on our printed marketing materials provides yet another way that potential customers can more easily connect with us,” said Minuteman Press customer Tom Lopatosky, proprietor of LOPCO Contracting. “Whether to request an estimate, find out more info about our company, or just to see what happens when they scan it, QR Codes are an increasingly valuable component of our printed marketing mix.”

Another innovative service available for customers of Minuteman Press Providence-Warwick is variable-data printing (VDP), a form of digital printing, including on-demand printing, in which elements such as text, graphics and images may be changed from one printed piece to the next. A set of personalized letters, each with the same basic layout, can be printed with a different name and address on each letter. Variable data printing is ideal for direct marketing, customer relationship management, advertising, invoicing and applying addressing on mailers, brochures or postcard campaigns.

“When our customers are able to customize a marketing message on an individualized basis, it increases chances that those messages are read,” said Karen Fraielli, co-owner of Minuteman Press Providence-Warwick.

“With these exciting changes in printing technology, we’re no longer just a printer,” said Fraielli. “From our graphic services, offset printing and digital printing to finishing services, mailing services, large format capabilities and promotional items, we’ve really become a marketing service provider.”
