RDW Group Inc., a communications firm with offices in Providence and Worcester, will soon open a Boston office. In preparation for the expansion to Boston, RDW has hired a business development specialist who will focus on growing the agency’s Boston client base.
John Bermingham, a Boston native and veteran of such New York-based agencies as Young & Rubicom and mcgarrybowen, has been selected to spearhead RDW efforts, the company said.

“To sustain our growth, we need to have a stronger presence in the Boston market,” said Mike Doyle, RDW Group president.
Doyle noted that RDW Group, founded in 1986, has enjoyed a book of business in Massachusetts but finds it is occasionally disadvantaged in competing for Boston-based accounts because it lacks a physical presence in the city. “We intend to remedy that,” Doyle said.
In addition to basing its business development operation in Boston, Doyle said the agency will also relocate its interactive group to a new Boston space. The agency is completing negotiations for offices on Congress Street.
Bermingham goes to RDW from mcgarrybowen where he led the agency’s Verizon account team. He also helped his former agency win such accounts as the Marriott International. He began his career at Y & R where he rose through the ranks to become account supervisor of clients including Sony Consumer Electronics and Dannon Yogurt.
A graduate of Connecticut College in New London, Bermingham lives with his wife in Concord, Mass.
RDW Group specializes in integrated communications, offering services including advertising, public relations and public affairs and direct marketing. The company has a total of 85 employees in Providence and Worcester.
