NEWPORT – Boat-technology company Siren Marine has been selected as the Official Connected Boat Supplier to the 2021 U.S. America’s Cup Challenger, New York Yacht Club American Magic.
Siren Marine announced its systems will be used aboard support vessels and VIP boats as the yacht team trains and races over the next few years leading up to the competition.
The Newport company’s MTC connected boat system and SirenFleet Management Portal are designed to provide vessels with remote monitoring, tracking and control. In this case, for instance, American Magic will be able to monitor the status of its support and VIP boats, knowing where they are and what they are doing at all times, while monitoring onboard systems for potential mechanical issues, Siren Marine said.
“SirenFleet allows us … a world-class tool to help us meet the demanding tasks placed on our chase boat fleet and achieve our overall goal of winning back the Cup,” said American Magic Chief Operating Officer Rob Ouellette. “The fact that the system works seamlessly in more than 180 countries also played an important role in our decision to partner with Siren Marine.”
Siren Marine President and CEO Daniel Harper founded the company in Connecticut in 2011. The company won a Rhode Island Business Plan Competition the next year and moved to the Ocean State.
