State gets money to build Pawtucket rail facility


PROVIDENCE Construction of the commuter rail layover facility in Pawtucket moved closer to reality with the announcement that money for the project has been transferred from the federal Transit Administration to the state Department of Transportation. The money, $495,320, was included in the federal transportation appropriation for fiscal 2001 through the efforts of Sen. Jack Reed. The facility will be located in an industrial area off Route 95.
