An hour outside Boston, Providence-based RISD Museum: “houses about 100,000 objects ranging from ancient art to textiles to decorative arts to prints, drawings and photographs” read the report. It also mentioned admission to the museum is free on Sunday and from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. the third Thursday of every month.
The New Bedford Whaling Museum illustrates the integrity of the now-extinct whaling industry to the city’s economy and is “dedicated to telling the story of man’s interaction with whales,” according to the list. Collection highlights mentioned by AAA include whale skeletons and scrimshaw.
The list featured 20 attractions ranging from approximately three hours to less from Bean Town, such as The Clark in Williamstown, Mass. to less than an hour, Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, Mass., from the Bay State’s capital.
