Warwick, RI, October 4, 2014….The Rhode Island Health Care Association (RIHCA) has announced that Brother Marcel Brisson is the recipient of a 2014 RIHCA Award.   RIHCA, the state’s largest professional affiliation of residential skilled nursing centers, developed the RIHCA Awards Program to recognize caregivers and others who make exemplary contributions to Rhode Island’s skilled nursing and rehabilitation community.

Brisson was honored with a Therapy Resources Management Spirit award for the energy and enthusiasm with which he performs his duties at Trinity Health and Rehabilitation Center in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.  A long term member of the Trinity team, Brisson currently serves as the facility’s chaplain. The RIHCA Volunteer of the Year Award is one of seven award categories in the RIHCA Awards Program.  Brissonwas one of 12 winners recognized this year.

“People who work in nursing facilities don’t often get the recognition they deserve. It truly takes a special person to manage the physical and emotional challenges that come with caring for the most vulnerable among our elderly. Those who do it with patience, kindness, and compassion inspire us with their dedication.  The RIHCA Awards provide us with an opportunity to recognize them for their devotion,” said Virginia Burke, RIHCA CEO/President.
