DARTMOUTH – Matt Roy, director of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s Center for Civic Engagement, was among five recipients of the 2009 President’s Public Service Award.
The awards are presented annually to faculty members from the university’s Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth, Lowell and Worcester campuses who have been nominated by the chancellors of their respective campuses for providing exemplary service to the state.
Roy “has been a driving force among the faculty to inculcate an ethic of public service into our campus life and curriculum,” said UMass Dartmouth Chancellor Jean F. MacCormack.
Most recently, Roy was the leader of a successful five-campus collaboration that resulted in a $471,000 Learn and Serve America grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service. •
