UnitedHealthcare, March of Dimes launch campaign

PROVIDENCE – A new campaign to educate women with healthy pregnancies about the importance of waiting at least 39 weeks to give birth was launched on Nov. 9 by UnitedHealthcare and the March of Dimes.
The program seeks to improve infant health by reducing premature elective deliveries before 39 weeks.
The campaign, “Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait,” was followed by a “Prematurity Summit” on Nov. 10 at Women & Infants Hospital. The kickoff and conference featured Dr. Tina Groat, national medical director, Women’s Health Line of Service, UnitedHealthcare, and Dr. Katharine D. Wenstrom, director of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine of Women & Infants Hospital.
The outreach initiative includes a media campaign and placement of educational materials at provider offices and childbirth education classes in Rhode Island.
