WESTERLY – The boards of directors of two local publicly traded banks last week declared their first-quarter dividends. Both were unchanged from the previous three-month period.
The directors of Washington Trust Bancorp Inc., parent of Westerly-based Washington Trust Co., last week announced a dividend of 21 cents per share for the quarter ending March 31. Shareholders of record on March 31 will receive payment on April 14.
Washington Trust also announced that it will hold its annual meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, at the Granite Theater, One Granite St., Westerly.
Shareholders will consider the election of five directors who have been nominated by the board of directors for three-year terms. Bank officials are expected to ratify the selection of KPMG LLP as the company’s independent registered public accounting firm for 2010.
Meanwhile, the directors at Independent Bank Corp., parent of Rockland Trust Co. in Rockland, Mass., declared a 18-cents-per-share dividend for stockholders of record at the close of business on March 29. The dividend will be paid on April 9.
