WESTERLY – The Washington Trust Co. recently announced new funding and training programs for financial literacy, according to a news release.
The three-part Financial Literacy Initiative includes $165,000 for literacy programs at three nonprofits, a free online financial literacy program and a new financial wellness center on the company website, the release stated.

Separately, Washington Trust is launching its own online, free financial education program for 28 middle and high schools in Rhode Island to teach students about financial literacy. The company has also added a new Financial Wellness Center on its website with information and calculators to help consumers analyze spending and saving habits.
