WESTERLY – The Westerly Hospital Auxiliary has awarded college scholarships to six students planning to pursue a career in health care, including the Mary C. Pucci Scholarship given to students pursuing hands-on patient care careers.
Westerly Hospital employee Morgan Miguel won the Mary C. Pucci Scholarship, given on behalf of the Mary C. Pucci Fund, which was established by the late Joseph Pucci in 1999 in memory of his wife, Mary, honoring her involvement in the Westerly Hospital Auxiliary. The Pucci Scholarship gives preference to a student who wishes to pursue a career in “hands-on” patient care and make a difference in a patient’s experience.

The Westerly Hospital Auxiliary was founded in 1926 to serve Westerly Hospital and its patients by providing material assistance beyond the scope of the hospital’s capital budget.
The auxiliary empowers its mission through fundraising events held throughout the year, including Lights of Love in December. The auxiliary also sponsors special events, educational lectures, a scholarship program and more. In addition to fundraisers, the auxiliary runs the hospital’s gift shop, which is located on the first floor of the hospital. Staffed by volunteers, the gift shop provides financial support to the hospital.
