PROVIDENCE – Ximedica relocated its Minneapolis office to a new location in Plymouth, Minn., on Monday, a move that it says will accommodate future growth and expand the medical-technology development firm’s presence in the Midwest.

“This new development space will enable the Midwest regional office to continue to expand its significant presence in Minnesota, as well as accommodate our regional clients more effectively and efficiently,” Randall S. Barko, Ximedica’s president and CEO, said in a statement.

The new 19,000-square-foot space on Vicksburg Lane will give the company a more flexible and accessible venue for meetings, product demonstrations and events, according to a news release about the move.

Barko said the relocation is a result of the company’s “extraordinary growth” over the last few years. Barko noted the acquisition of Accel Biotech, based in Los Gatos, Calif., in July, and the acquisition of Bridge Design in San Francisco, in August 2015.

“We’re proud to say Ximedica’s workforce has increased to employing 270 people across the U.S. and in Hong Kong,” Barko said.

A company spokeswoman said Ximedica has 20 employees in Minnesota, but said the move will enable it to grow that number to 50. The company employs 123 workers in Providence.
Ximedica will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and welcome reception in Plymouth with clients, community leaders and employees on May 10.
