PROVIDENCE – Providence hired Vision Government Solutions Inc. to complete a state-mandated revaluation program of properties, the mayor’s office announced Monday.
The project, which begins this week, will establish market values for properties as of Dec. 31, 2018, and will be reflected in tax bills issued in the summer of 2019.

The program will begin in the northwest area of the city. Data collectors will visit all buildings to record exterior measurements and conduct interior inspections. The city said in a release that the collectors will carry a letter of identification from the city’s assessor’s office, a photo identification badge and have their cars registered with the Providence Police Department.
“Property owners and tenants are respectfully requested to cooperate with data collectors to ensure that accurate information is used in the revaluation process,” according to the release.
