PROVIDENCE – The Rosa Parks House that was on display at WaterFire Arts Center will go up for auction in July, Stages of Freedom announced Thursday.
The home was Rosa Parks’ family’s home in Detroit. Artist Ryan Mendoza bought the home, and shipped it to Germany, before returning with the home and displaying it in Providence.

The Rhode Island School of Design recently held a symposium at the installation of the home at the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence only two months after Brown University announced the cancellation of an exhibit involving the house at the same location.
The project will be auctioned by Guernsey’s in New York City as one of a number of significant African-American objects. The project will come with a 12-page instructional book on how to assemble the house.
