UnitedHealthcare of New England wants healthy workforces throughout Rhode Island. So it’s focusing its wellness efforts close to home – with its own employees.

UnitedHealthcare employees can participate in a robust, diverse array of free, on-site wellness initiatives that include walking and physical-activity programs, nutrition challenges, massages, Fresh Fruit Mondays, biometric screenings and flu clinics, said Catherine Theodore, UnitedHealthcare’s wellness director.

Employees and their spouses or domestic partners can confidentially access online and telephonic coaching, a diabetes prevention program, blood pressure and weight screenings and a smoking-cessation program.

In 2015, United Healthcare launched a new online initiative, Rally, which allows its nearly 120,000 employees in the United States – 131 of whom work at the Warwick regional headquarters – to engage in their health and wellness. n
