PROVIDENCE – KPMG LLP has promoted Providence-based executive Jason LaRue to vice chair of talent and culture, putting him in charge of the accounting firm’s talent strategy and human resources functions nationwide.
LaRue will oversee workforce planning, recruiting, talent management, learning and total rewards, KPMG announced Aug. 18. He succeeds Sandy Torchia, who will retire from the firm Sept. 30.

LaRue previously served as KPMG’s national managing partner of talent and culture and has been with the firm for more than 20 years. He is a member of KPMG’s management committee.
In his new role, LaRue will oversee the firm’s talent and culture strategies as KPMG continues to navigate changes in the professional services industry and workforce.
He also serves on the board of Blessings in a Backpack and as an advisory board member for Fairfield University’s John Charles Meditz College of Arts and Sciences.
The appointment follows another recent leadership move involving KPMG’s Providence operations. Timothy J. Walsh, KPMG’s chair and CEO, was elected chair of KPMG’s Americas region effective July 1.
Walsh oversees the firm’s U.S. operations while taking on responsibility for strategy and coordination across the Americas.
KPMG is one of the Big 4 accounting firms, comprising the largest professional services networks in the world, providing audit, tax and advisory services.
