Mass. fraud task force becomes permanent

BOSTON – Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray last week signed an executive order permanently establishing the Mass. Anti-Fraud, Waste and Abuse Task Force.
Murray chairs the task force, which is comprised of representatives from the Mass. Executive Office of Administration and Finance, and the offices of the attorney general, inspector general, state auditor and state comptroller.
Its primary mission is to examine issues surrounding fraud, waste and abuse and identify potential targets for collective anti-fraud efforts. The task force will assess existing investigative and enforcement methods to develop best practices among state agencies in identifying and preventing fraud, waste and abuse.
The task force was originally proposed by the Patrick-Murray administration and approved by the Legislature in the fiscal 2011 budget. &#8226
