Athena Poppas has been elected to the national board of trustees for the American College of Cardiology. She is currently the director of the echocardiography laboratory at Rhode Island Hospital as well as an associate professor of medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Rhode Island Monthly magazine named Poppas as a Top Doctor for Women in both 2003 and 2009. •
