Ex-Lockheed CEO elected as Amgen board’s 11th member

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The board of directors of Amgen Inc. (Nasdaq: AMGN) has elected Vance D. Coffman as its 11th member, the company said last night.
He also serves on the boards of Deere & Co. and 3M Co.
Coffman, 63, is the retired chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corp.; he had served as Lockheed’s CEO and vice chairman for eight months before being elected as chairman in April 1998. He previously had been elected to a number of other corporate leadership positions, including president and CEO of Lockheed’s Space & Strategic Missile Sector.
