Arpin Group to centralize its military services

EAST GREENWICH – Arpin Group Inc. today announced that the military divisions of its Arpin International Group and Arpin Van Lines will be becoming more closely integrated, in order to support the U.S. Department of Defense “Families First” initiative, a new program designed to reward “best value” service providers by giving them more business.

The result of this collaboration between the sister companies will be the new Arpin Military Operations Center. Its goal is to provide unprecedented customer service to military members by closely managing every shipment and expediting claims settlements.

“It has always been our intent to treat every Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Coast Guardsman and Marine with the same honor and dignity with which they serve our nation,” said Matt Dolan, a retired Navy captain and Arpin Group’s vice president of military services.

“The Arpin companies are now working together to establish a proactive approach, which focuses on optimizing our ‘Best Value’ score, in order to propel us to the top service provider of military relocations.”

Families First – launching early this year – is an initiative designed by the DoD’s Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) that will use customer-service feedback from military members to determine which companies will be preferred transportation service providers for military moves.

In the past, companies were selected based on the lowest cost, with little consideration for performance. Under the new, performance-focused “best value” approach, most of the DoD’s the moving business will be awarded to the transportation service providers who do the best work as measured by the customer.

Arpin Group said all its current staff involved with military household goods will be shifted to the Military Operations Center, and by May, will be operating under the new SDDC business rules, the company said.

They will use the new SDDC Defense Personal Property System, a centralized Web-based system that provides 24/7 access to property-shipment information and permits direct communication between DoD members and transportation providers throughout the moving process.

In addition, Arpin Group said, the company continues to add special military spouse representatives, at bases around the globe to help it support military families during moves. Arpin’s customer satisfaction scores have improved every month since Families First was announced in 2006.

Arpin Group Inc. is the holding company for Arpin Van Lines, Arpin International Group, Arpin Moving Systems (Canada), Star Moving Network and Intermodal Credit Corp.
