Rhode lawmakers have raised the stakes at bingo halls across state, increasing the cash limit a charitable group can offer to players from $6,050 to $7,500 per night, according to a press statement released Tuesday.
“Raising the limit a bit will give a little boost to groups that sponsor bingo fund raisers by making bingo more attractive to players,” said state Rep. Roger A. Picard, D-Woonsocket, in the statement.

Only approved organizations are permitted to hold bingo games in the state, and the new limit applies to the aggregate of prizes awarded at a game location in a single day, said Picard, who sponsored the bill (2005-H 6388).
The state legislature approved the bingo legislation on June 29, and it took effect on July 19, according to the statement.
