Hasbro gets temporary restraining order against RADGames

PAWTUCKET – A federal court has granted Hasbro Inc. a temporary restraining order against RADGames, of Peterborough, N.H., preventing the company from making, promoting, distributing or selling Super Add-Ons MONOPOLY, a game designed by RADGames to be played in connection with Hasbro’s MONOPOLY game.

In its complaint, Hasbro alleged trademark and copyright infringement against RADGames, which had featured its Super Add-Ons at last month’s Toy Fair in New York City. On Friday, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York granted Hasbro’s request for a temporary restraining order.

“We are pleased with the swift action of the court in granting the Temporary Restraining Order,” said Frank Bifulco, president of Hasbro U.S. Games, in a news release. “MONOPOLY is celebrating its 70th anniversary of entertaining families all over the world. We take infringements against all our brands very seriously, especially when it is the most popular game in the world.”

First introduced by Parker Brothers in 1935, MONOPOLY is sold by Hasbro in 80 countries and published in 26 languages. With more than 250 million games sold since its introduction, it is considered the most popular branded game in the world.
