The Moving Pictures division of Providence-based Advertising Ventures Inc. has been working with high-definition technology for nearly five years, most recently to shoot a series of commercials for Cox Communications New England.
High-definition shooting is a digital medium, using bits and bytes to record, store and transmit images, rather than using chemicals on film. Featuring testimonials from real Cox customers from Rhode Island and Connecticut, the commercials spotlight Cox’s services. The spots will air throughout Rhode Island and parts of Connecticut and Massachusetts this fall.

“We only use HD if it’s appropriate for the story that we are trying to tell,” said Ray Jefferson, who heads up Advertising Ventures’ Moving Pictures division, in a release. “It was perfect for Cox Communications because they are really a technology leader, offering multiple high-definition channels on their digital cable system.”
