Ben Mondor and the Pawtucket Red Sox received The Pawtucket Foundation’s Heritage Award. The award recognizes outstanding and long-term commitment to Pawtucket and its residents. In 1977, Mondor acquired the Rhode Island Red Sox after the organization had gone bankrupt and lost its membership in professional baseball. Over the past 27 years, Mondor and his colleagues have created one of the most successful franchises in all of baseball, and have rejuvenated McCoy Stadium.
