Devon Preston has been named executive director of the Washington County Regional Planning Council (WCRPC), a part time position in which she will work to address countywide resource management issues.
Preston was hired in December 2001 after the WCRPC secured $30,000 from the Rhode Island Foundation for part-time staff support. This year she will work with the council to develop a five-year action plan that will prioritize projects and reflect public input gathered in 2000. She will also coordinate monthly WCRPC meetings, produce a web site and newsletter, and work to promote regional goals for clean and plentiful water, a landscape of village centers and open spaces and diversified housing choices.
